Nah. Howzabout I try my new potion on her instead? I'm tired of wastin' it on squirrels.
Salem, in Rambley Rush arcade game
Salem the Skunk is an antagonist of Indigo Park.
Overview
Though Salem's presence as a mascot is unknown, their portion of Rambley's Railway has been completely destroyed, likely foreshadowing them having a major role in future chapters.
Description
"Salem the Skunk is a major trouble maker! They’re always causing trouble for Rambley & the gang. Salem is super quick, cunning, but tries to hide it with their “punk” exterior. A brilliant mind creating all kinds of contraptions to ruin Rambley’s day. Keep an eye out as they’re quick and can use countless inventions to get out of a sticky situation. Come meet them, only at Indigo Park located in REDACTED."
Personality
Salem's only appearances in Chapter 1 is as a torn cardboard cut-out in Rambley's Railway, and as a sprite in the Rambley Rush arcade game, where they're depicted as unprincipled and evil. They're shown experimenting with potions on the wildlife of Rambleberry Woods as well as Mollie Macaw, with the stated goal of doing so being to make Mollie forget her friendship with Rambley and have her kill him. Victims of Salem's corruption turn purple and hostile, and develop unknown abilities. The corrupted version of Mollie becomes the boss fight of the arcade game, which breaks down after the player or Mollie runs out of health.
Appearance
Salem is an anthropomorphic, primarily jacarta-colored skunk with contrasting lighter markings on their face, torso, and tail. Their hair, short and dark purple, is streaked with electric pink. Their forearm markings are a bold dark purple which flow down to their hands. Their eyes are particularly striking with yellow sclera and pink pupils. They wear a Persian indigo vest with a prominent pink collar and a matching potion bandolier. On their belt, there are multiple glass potions with a purple liquid inside. They have black ripped leggings with lavender cuffs.
Trivia
- Salem could possibly be inspired by the real-life Salem Witch Trials, due to her using potions, and the fact that people who use potions are often called witches.
- In a livestream, UniqueGeese stated that a character uses she/they pronouns, but "they" pronouns were used a lot to describe the character. They thought "people would find that important" and "that character fits really well with using that."
- Although not specifically stated to be Salem, the character uses they in their bio.
- Salem was confirmed to be non-binary by UniqueGeese in a reaction stream.[1]
- Removing the rubble from their destroyed section of Rambley's Railway reveals a mountainous pine forest.[2]
